Need a TL Test Performed?

Thermoluminescence (TL) dating is a process used to determine the time elapsed since material containing crystalline minerals was exposed to heat or sunlight. The TL test measures the accumulated radiation dose, emitting a weak light signal proportional to this radiation, providing an objective, absolute measurement of time since the material was last heated. TL testing is crucial for determining the authenticity of ancient art. While it does not provide a complete picture, it offers an objective assessment of the time since the clay was fired, helping to identify unfired clay and restoration materials. TL tests from multiple locations on the piece can also indicate if the sections were made from similar clay, providing further insights into the piece’s authenticity. Global R Metals collaborates with a laboratory in Germany to facilitate all phases of TL testing.
